Insurance Claim Assistance

Insurance Claim Assistance

After storm or hail damage, the insurance process can feel like the hard part. We help by documenting what's actually on your roof, clearly and honestly, so you walk into the claim knowing what you're dealing with. Tessa & Joseph Stremel own Flathead Valley Roofing. Established 2021, with Joseph's 25 years of roofing experience behind every inspection. We serve Kalispell, Evergreen, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and the rest of the Flathead Valley.

What we do

After a storm or a hail event, we get on the roof and document the damage. That means photos of every affected slope, a written summary of what we found, and a clear scope of the work we recommend. You take that record to your insurer. We don't file the claim for you, and we don't speak to your insurer on your behalf — but we give you an honest, documented picture of the roof so the claim starts from facts rather than guesses.

The value is in the documentation. A thorough, dated record of lifted and creased shingles, missing ridge cap, damaged flashing, or hail hits is what supports an accurate claim. Without it, damage gets missed, understated, or attributed to something other than the storm.

Why documentation comes first

An insurer works from what's documented. If the record shows creased shingles and bent flashing, that's what the claim reflects. If the record is thin or missing, the claim reflects that too. We've seen roofs where the visible damage from the ground looked minor and the damage up close was significant — and the other way around.

Getting on the roof before you file means you know what you're actually dealing with. It keeps damage from being overlooked, and it gives you something concrete to talk about with your adjuster instead of a general sense that the roof got hit.

Meeting the adjuster

When your insurance adjuster comes out to inspect the roof, we can meet them there. We walk through what we documented and point out the damage we found, slope by slope, so nothing gets overlooked. Having the roofer who documented the damage present helps make sure the adjuster sees the same things we did.

We're not there to argue with the adjuster. We're there to show what we found and answer questions about it. The inspection is the adjuster's to run; we make sure the damage we documented is part of what they see.

What we don't do

We don't file your claim, and we don't represent you to your insurer. The claim is yours, and the conversation with your insurer is yours to have. We provide the documentation and the scope of work, and we're available to answer questions about what we found.

We also don't get involved in deductibles. Your deductible is the portion of the loss you're responsible for under your policy, and we don't waive, discount, absorb, or cover it. We price the work honestly and tell you what it costs. What your insurer pays toward that work is between you and your insurer.

If the scope doesn't match

Sometimes the insurer's scope and the damage we documented don't line up. When that happens, we talk through the difference with you and explain what the record shows. We don't push a particular outcome. Our job is to give you an honest, documented picture of the roof — what's damaged, what we'd recommend, and what the work involves.

You decide how to proceed from there. Whether that means revisiting the claim with your insurer or moving forward with the work as scoped, the decision is yours, made with the facts in hand.

Where to start

If your roof took a hit from wind or hail, the first step is a documented inspection. We get on the roof, photograph what we find, and give you a written summary you can use when you talk to your insurer. Estimates are free, and there's no obligation.

Frequently asked

Will you help me file my insurance claim?

Yes. We document the damage thoroughly with photos and a written summary, walk you through what we found, and explain what the record shows. You bring that documentation to your insurer. We help you understand what you're looking at and what to expect, but the claim is yours to file.

Do I need an inspection before I call my insurer?

It helps. An insurer works from what's documented, and a thorough, dated inspection gives you a clear record of the damage before you file — what's lifted, what's creased, what's missing, what flashing is compromised. Filing without it can mean damage gets missed or understated. We get on the roof and document what we actually see.

Do you meet the insurance adjuster on the roof?

We can. When the adjuster comes out to inspect, we'll meet them on the roof and walk through what we documented. We point out the damage we found so nothing gets overlooked. Having the roofer who documented the damage present helps make sure the adjuster sees the same things we did.

Can you waive or discount my deductible?

No, and we won't. Your deductible is the portion of the loss you're responsible for, and it's part of the contract between you and your insurer. We don't get involved in handling, waiving, discounting, or absorbing deductibles. We price the work honestly and tell you what it costs, separate from anything your insurer covers.

What if the insurer's scope is different from what you found?

It happens. We document what we see, and if the insurer's scope doesn't match the damage we found on the roof, we'll talk through the difference with you and explain what the record shows. You decide how to proceed. Our job is to give you an honest, documented picture of the roof, not to push a particular outcome.

Do you handle the claim paperwork for me?

We provide the documentation — photos, a written summary of the damage, and a scope of the work we recommend. You handle the filing and the conversations with your insurer, with our findings in hand. We're available to answer questions about what we documented and what the work involves.
